Edam experience from the water! Silent electric-powered boats Edam
Edam and water are inextricably linked. While strolling through this historic city, known for it’s cheese, you can find at least 177 beautiful historical monuments, see the many bridges (27 within the former ramparts alone), the cheese warehouses, shipyard “Groot” (15th century), the beautiful and typical Dutch canals and waterways towards the current polder the Purmer and the former Zuiderzee. From Easter to mid-October, you can sail through the canals of Edam, in electric boats named after former Edammers with national fame. Get to know Edam at your own pace using a silent environmentally friendly boat. The tour starts and ends, in the middle of the towncenter at the Nieuwehaven, next to the Baanbrug. You can get the keys at the Tourist office situated at the Damplein (Dam square) All distances are within a minutes walk. A deposit is required but will be refunded when the boat is returned undamaged. The duration of rental is per hour. The boats are easy to manoeuver! There is no need for sailing-experience. Eventhough the boats are stable and unsinkable do sail carefully as you are not alone on the water With the keys you also receive a tour-map with all the highlights you’re about to see and also a short manual for the boat-use. For children life-jackets are mandatory! For a small fee we can supply them. We expect you to take good care of the boat. Please enjoy the quiet peaceful surroundings of Edam and try to blend in.
